MIMER MEDICAL COLLEGE : One-stop information !
Greetings to the reader!
It was exactly three years back when I was in your shoes reveling behind the screen anxiously going through every blog I came through with peanut butter fingers fetching and hunting for any information I could get before embarking upon this glorious but exhilarating journey of being a 'Doctor'.
I clearly remember the day when my admission for MBBS into MIMER Medical College was finalised. Then I couldn't find any post which would cater with scintillating one-stop information about the institution from a student's point of view. Hence, I decided to come up with this topic in my blog while taking care of not being even infinitesimally prefunctory.
Being a medico and getting into this noble (or money minting?) profession had been my dream since I was a toddler (Yes, I played with a doctor barbie :P). But, my parents were a bit apprehensive considering no Medical background in my family near and afar. Honestly, I wasn't particularly overwhelmed or overjoyed since I'd missed the Government colleges I wanted by a fairly narrow margin and I knew my mind wasn't gonna let that stigma go for a long time (still hasn't). But it wasn't long when I discovered that all of my other batchmates had clearly been through a similar turmoil and we connected soon enough.
MIMER Medical College stands majestically in Talegaon (Dabhade), Pune and is located on and about 40 kms (roughly a half hour drive) from Pune City. It is easily accessible from various cities (especially Mumbai) by frequent trains. The Puneites usually commute by the Pune - Lonavla locals.
About the Institution - The field of Medicine is one where science and social commitments walk hand in hand. In order to fulfill the dream of creating such committed doctors, MAEER’S MIT Pune, established, Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education and Research (MIMER) in the year 1995 at Talegaon Dabhade, near Pune, India. The institute originally affiliated to the University of Pune, is now under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Nashik, and is recognized by Medical Council of India. The college provides facilities for the MBBS courses with intake capacity of 150 students.
Benevolent, broad minded management, highly experienced student friendly faculty, ample clinical material, state of art educational facilities, stimulating academic and social atmosphere set in an idyllic scenic climate aptly summarise the Talegaon Dabhade campus of MIMER.

The Medical College is in association with BSTR Hospital. Amongst the other things MIMER boasts of an extremely well mainted - Mahatma Gandhi Central Library which is always bustling with students and has a breathtaking view of the lurid campus which makes for the perfect study breaks for the students (It has also proven a boon for many of the emerging photographers here :P ). The librarian is very friendly and will always welcome you with a warm smile.

What's more? The college has strict antiragging policies and the students co-exist here in absolute harmony. Your seniors might try to talk to you and ask you about your name, hometown, NEET ranks, etc but don't be shunned out then. Your seniors (although may seem brusque in the elementary days) will just be trying to help you adjust there and get you talking from the oblivious state that you're in the beginning so play along and be a sport! Besides, you're going to need them a lotttt :D .They are the ones who will give you perfect advice on what to study in whose viva, which lectures to attend, who asks which questions and similar of your other Fiasco's. You will eventually amalgamate in and transcend into being the best of friends with your seniors and they'll stand by you in all of your hustles. Furthermore, the fierce friendships and memories that you'll build up here will be endearing enough for you to cherish them throughout your life. From studying for months and pulling all-nighters for weeks together with baggy eyes to some finding the love of their lives, you're going to do it all here! There is an extremely healthy and irrevocable study oriented climate in the campus given that there are limited hang-out places in Talegaon, which is also one of the major evident reasons for students here being mighty dedicated to crack the PG Entrance exams. There are 3 canteens in the campus and a few decent food outlets around.
The Annual college festival - PLEXUS and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations - VAKRATUNDA electrify the climate here with a plethora of umpteen formal and informal Cultural and Sports events which witness exuberant footfall and zealous participation which refreshes the students of the tiresome Medical Curriculum. Moreover, the organising batches work in accord and put up a fine show each year under the able guidance of the Management and suave Professors which provides for the development of leadership qualities and team work ensuring holistic development amongst Medicos.

There are add-on blocks for Teachers, Resident Doctors and other college staff. The college administration allots hostel rooms to all interested students (MBBS, Physiotherapy and Postgraduate Residents). The rules for selecting roommates are lesser stringent and by mutual understanding with the rector's permission from II MBBS onwards. The three-storeyed accommodation in MAEER Hostel is on sharing basis of 3/4 girls per room. A single bed, cupboard, study table and a chair is provided per student. The washrooms are common - 8 pairs of bathrooms and toilets on each floor. The population of boys being lesser the accommodation there is better with lesser people in each room. It also includes a gym room and a few study rooms on each floor. The hostels alike the campus is kept speck-spot clean with regular whitewashing by the jovial housekeeping team who also maintain an in-house laundry on each floor in the hostel. The bathrooms are fitted with geysers and hot water is provided from 6am onwards in the morning and 5pm onwards in the evening until whenever it gets exhausted. Good job. You didn't mention any shortcomings. When we started off it was still under construction and the picture was not as flowery. But it's good to know that it has blossomed so well.
ReplyDeleteIt has evolved very well now since it's been like more than 2 decades to the college. Honestly I'm not much at liberty in this topic. Hence I've tried to portray a general picture.
DeleteAmazing π
ReplyDeleteI read it the second time now;p
This article of medical services will be something that I’ll read again in the coming days. As I currently work on a website that deals with medical billing, this concept is very much an essential part of it. This article will make it easier for me to understand the diversity of medications and how it gets implemented.
ReplyDeleteHaving a website of medical billing agencies at our disposal, I want to thank you for being very informative about their necessities, the considerable actions taking place in these services and the phases. This would be very beneficial in my case as I have a huge responsibility regarding my website. I will always be grateful to you if I am able to achieve my objectives regarding these services.
